Let's discuss about "Constitution"

It's a "Fundamental Law" of our country which reflects people's faith and aspirations. Many Constitutional Experiments were introduced even before the British Government assumed direct responsibility of Indian Administration in 1858.

Govt. of India Act of 1858 "CROWN RULE" (1858-1947) it abolished the East India Company. Transferred the powers of Govt. territories and revenues to the British Crown. It changed the designation of the Governor-General of India to that of "Viceroy of India". Lord Canning thus became the first Viceroy of India.

Government of India Act 1935. The Act based on the white paper of 1932 was prepared by the British Government. This act was the main source for Federal Scheme, Office of Governor, Judiciary, Emergency Provisions and Administrative details.

We borrowed Single Citizenship, Rule of Law, Parliamentary Government, Cabinet System, and Bicameralism from British Constitution. Federation with a Strong Centre, Residuary Power of the Centre, Advisory Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, and Appointment of the State Governor from Canadian Constitution. Fundamental Rights from US Constitution. Fundamental Duties from Soviet Constitution. Republic and the ideals of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity in the preamble from French Constitution. Procedure for Amendment of the Constitution and election of members of Rajya Sabha from South African Constitution. Concurrent List, Freedom of Trade, Commerce and Intercourse, joint sitting of two Houses of Parliament from Australian Constitution, and also we have borrowed some features from Germany, Irish and Japan. There is more and more to write about our Constitution. It is one of the lengthiest written Constitution originally in 1949. It had 395 Articles divided into 22 Parts and 8 Schedules, presently it consists of about 450 Articles into 24 parts and 12 Schedules.

Let us abide by the "PREAMBLE" of our great country, respect each other and strive to live with TRUTH AND INTEGRITY.
