Pratima Sharma, was brought up in the city of glamour and dreams, Mumbai and got married in the small town of Khatauli, near Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh State.
Journey of a House-wife to Beauty Queen! Success comes to those who have courage to bring their passion in reality!

After getting married she is blessed with two sons. She is
living in GAIL township Kanpur Uttar-Pradesh, as her husband is working in
sector Maharatna company GAIL (India) Ltd. in Dist -Auraiya, Kanpur. Her elder
son is a student of Engineering and the younger son is in 9th standard. To
adjust in a small township with such big dreams in her eyes was a big challenge
for her. But the Sanskaras given by her parents helped her to adjust in this
small township. She has completed Post Graduation in M. Com (Business
Management) in the year she got married. After marriage also she did her M. A.
(English literature) and then her B.Ed. from Kanpur university. She worked as a
teacher in the township’s school as well. She always kept herself engaged in
some creative work like dance, Music, drama and last but not the least fitness.
She has conducted many workshops of Garba and Zumba where
she taught Garba and Zumba to ladies of the township. She has became famous as
Garba teacher in the GAIL Township.
She believes that: “The
person should not get scared by the challenges of life and should always try to
find out some best ways to polish themselves and showcase their creativity.
Always have self-belief and confidence. We are the co-creator of our own life.
Success comes to those who have courage to bring their passion in reality. If
you think something out of the box people may become judgmental about you but
once you become successful, their perception changes and they start
appreciating you”.
Our society is still little conservative regarding the
development of women. It fixes some boundaries for females beyond which we are
not expected to exceed or grow. A woman plays multiple roles as daughter, wife,
mother, grandmother, daughter in law with complete responsibilities but by
doing these duties she forgets that first of all she is a woman and she also
has a freedom to live her dreams.
Pratima has always been a good daughter, wife, daughter in
law and has been doing all her duties with great zeal but back of the mind she always
had this thought of ‘what I am doing for myself’? She was having a dream to
become a beauty queen and walk on the ramp. When you dream and start to take
efforts to make it reality universe help you at big extent. So was the case with
Pratima. Her dream became reality when one fine day she realized and asked
question to herself “Life is moving every second and when am I going to start
living my dream? That was the time she made a decision to take care of herself.
She decided to transform her body to become beauty queen.
Thus her fitness journey began, though it was not easy. To realize her dreams
of taking part in any beauty contest ,her first step was to reduce her weight
and thus she started the weight loss program. After three years of constant
efforts she achieved her target with consistency and discipline.
Fortunately, she
received information regarding the Mrs. India contest which was going to be
held in Delhi by Elite Club International Ltd in November, 2019. She took part
and won the contest and became Mrs. India 2019. She got recognition and became
more charged up to participate for Mrs. Universe 2020 contest. Mrs. Universe
2020 contest was held online due to Covid-19 pandemic but this participation proved
as challenging for her in many ways.
As she was staying in a township away from the main city
area ,getting a good beautician and a fashion photographer was indeed
challenging. For her professional photo shoot she choose to go to Delhi by
taking risk in Covid 19 situation with Delhi reeling under maximum cases. However
by God’s grace, the photo-shoot has
successfully completed and she was able to get a good shoot done to be
able to send to the organizers of Mrs. Universe Ltd organization. The organizers’
shortlisted her profile. As the contest was online to be able to get maximum
votes was another challenge votes as the winner would be decided on that
factor. She managed to garner around 9000 votes, standing 29th position out of
89 contestants worldwide and being in the top 30.This was a remarkable
achievement for her to bag the 29th position. In doing so, she received worldwide recognition with the official title
of Mrs. South West Asia Universe 2020.
“Age is just a number for me. What I have learnt from my
achievements is if we have self-belief, compassion and dedication, we can
achieve any” says Pratima.
